Such and similar answers were given to me as counter-arguments to my clarifications. As in all other esoteric practices, man does not see any danger here either. The pendulum-dowsing person establishes a mediation between the pendulum and unknown powers and serves as a medium. He puts himself in a state of receptivity to information. Most of the time, the mediumistic disposition is unconscious and unrecognised. It manifests itself in different ways and in different degrees of strength. Sometimes the bearer is not aware of it in his whole life. Mediality manifests itself in various forms, among others also in the pendulum reaction. The pendulum serves as an aid here.
I have read various writings and opinions by different authors on the practice of the pendulum dowsing. Each author in his own way, with his experience, knowledge and insight, tries to point out to fellow human beings the dangers that can be caused by ties and occult burdens. Each of them tries to warn. All the writings are unanimous in saying that through baptism the Christian is called to follow Jesus Christ. He is to renounce everything that prevents him from embarking on this path.

I had the opportunity to watch a woman during her activity who pretends to be a Christian pendulum dowser. It should be emphasised that there is no such thing as Christian pendulum dowsing, despite the fact that sometimes even the rosary has to serve as a pendulum for this purpose. This woman told me a few things about her everyday life while she was doing it. Actually - she said - I wouldn't have to come to the house of the people who ask me. Through the help I received with the pendulum, I gradually gained clairvoyance and clairsentience as a reward. At the very moment of the telephone call I am already allowed to see the places I am supposed to find. But I have to come, because I have to offer something, as I also accept money for my help. Not only did this woman look for good places, but she also took care of the worries and problems of these housemates and here too tried to give answers and advice with the pendulum. On Sunday, especially in the morning - she went on to say - people know that I am at home, and then I get so many calls that it has been years since I could even think of attending a church service. I simply don't have time for that any more. After all, I serve my fellow human beings and try to help them in their need and give them information. She does it with the help of the pendulum and her mediumistic abilities. This charity - she said - also serves God. She went on to say, "According to an inner voice, I have not read certain books for years, including the Bible". On my advice to try it yet again with the Word of God, she immediately rejected it arguing that she did not want to take any risks. "I am very sure" - she argued - "that exactly this inner voice which advises me not to open the Bible any more helps me to recognise people's problems". I believe that no further explanation is necessary concerning this testimony. This woman is convinced that she is working in the spirit of God and continues to exercise her ministry as a Christian pendulum dowser to deceive her fellow human beings - and she is in demand.

One Father gave me his personal confession in writing, saying among other things, "Since the age of twelve I have been doing pendulum dowsing and other esoteric practices. I learned this from my father shortly before he died. I practised everything quite successfully, even in the monastery and as a priest I continued with it. I was sure I was doing good. Besides, I felt I was working with God's energy and not the esoteric, cosmic energy that actually served me. So I deceived myself for years and slipped more and more into esotericism without wanting to. On top of that, I developed severe allergies, which of course I never associated with my esoteric activities. Not only my mind, but also my body resisted. All the remedies and methods could not help me. The worst thing was that I was more and more drawn away from God, could no longer pray properly, had a serious professional crisis and was close to leaving the monastery. I ignored all well-meant advice at that time. By God's grace and the prayers of my fellow human beings, after a long process of maturing, I had to realise that I was wrong. I renounced all practices in confession and destroyed all esoteric books and aids. Since then I have been allowed to grow and mature more and more in my faith. Since then I no longer have had any allergic symptoms."

Words like, "I don't have time to go to church anymore", "I don't open the Bible anymore", "I can't pray properly anymore", "I am more and more drawn away from God", these are statements I had to hear more and more over the years. New Age thinking is coming more and more into people's hearts. Here we need the wisdom that comes from God. Only from God, can we discern the darkness. Not everyone who has Christian vocabulary in his mouth is serving God. Consulting the pendulum is occult. We are convinced - he said - someone said goodbye loudly; certainly that power which had served and guided us for years. We thank the Lord for leading us out of this darkness."
